Tile tableau | Keya Tama | Memories

This unique ceramic object by South African artist Keya Tama is part of Urban Blue – From Bricks to Tiles, a groundbreaking project in which street art and Delft Blue come together. In 2025/2026, six international street artists created exceptional artworks during two Artist in Residence periods, in close collaboration with the craftsmen and designers of Royal Delft.

Keya Tama

South African artist Keya Tama (Cape Town, 1997) presents a large ceramic tableau consisting of 345 hand-painted tiles. The work is entirely executed in shades of blue, featuring an iconographic pattern of totems, each one unique. The tableau is signed in the lower right corner and is a one-of-a-kind piece.

Keya Tama lives and works in New York, where he creates both large-scale murals and smaller works on paper and textiles. His work explores the contrast between ancient symbols and modern folklore. Through the use of recurring motifs (people, animals, nature), he develops a visual language that connects past and present. His murals can be seen all over the world. More about Keya

Urban Blue

Urban Blue is an innovative art project that blends the rich tradition of Delft Blue with the energy and expressiveness of street art. Through collaboration with Straat Museum Amsterdam, international street artists literally move from bricks to tiles, creating a new way to experience heritage and contemporary art.
