Royal Delft Participates in the Delft Innovation Festival 2026

24 February 2026

As part of the themed year The Robots Are Coming, the opening exhibition Robotics at the Huis van Delft has officially started. The exhibition showcases, in an inspiring way, the impact of robotics on our daily lives. This exhibition is part of the Delft Innovation Festival.

Royal Delft is participating in this exhibition, where centuries-old craftsmanship is combined with new technology. In 2022, together with TU Delft, a painting robot was developed that can decorate Delft Blue tiles. The robot translates brushstrokes into code and develops its own recognizable handwriting, making each tile unique.

Thanks to the precision of the robot, the foundation of large tile panels could, for example, be set up, supporting the master painter without losing the craft. Human and machine complement each other: tradition and innovation go hand in hand.

The painting robot originates from the graduation project Digital Delft Blue, A New Approach (2022) by Mischa de Haan, in collaboration with the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at TU Delft and Royal Delft. We are proud to contribute to this and help shape the future of Delft Blue.

The exhibition is free to visit until 19 July 2026 at the Innovation Gallery in the Huis van Delft in Delft.
