Royal Delft and the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix present Isack Hadjar with a new trophy

5 September 2025

Last Sunday, Isack Hadjar unfortunately broke his trophy during the well-known team celebrations in Zandvoort. Royal Delft and the Dutch Grand Prix acted immediately and presented the young driver with a new trophy today. Hadjar is allowed to keep the broken version as a special keepsake of his historic first podium, adding a unique story to his achievement with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls.

In collaboration with Studio Piet Boon, Royal Delft created the official Dutch Grand Prix trophies for the third consecutive year. The organizers wanted impressive trophies that combine iconic Dutch craftsmanship with Formula 1 in the Netherlands. Founded in 1653, Royal Delft designed and decorated the trophies in their iconic Delft Blue style. This year, the Dutch Grand Prix presented trophies that truly symbolize the Netherlands.

The Studio Piet Boon by Royal Delft cups are made of high-quality ceramic and meticulously hand-painted by master artisans. Ceramic is a beautiful but delicate material: it can break if exposed to unexpected vibrations. The trophy was likely placed at a slight angle, causing uneven pressure and stress points that may have led to the breakage.

“For a project of this importance, we always prepare unpainted backup models. Extra priority was given to this particular trophy during our production process. Thanks to the design of the number 3 trophy with its fast action-paint decoration, and the skill and dedication of our craftsmen, we were able to deliver this replacement trophy exceptionally quickly at the Italian Grand Prix,” said Joffrey Walonker, Design Manager at Royal Delft.

Although this incident is unique, over the past three years the trophies have stood on the podium without issue. Royal Delft emphasizes the value and symbolism of each piece. Hadjar now has two memorable trophies: one broken with a meaningful story, and one perfect version as a tribute to an outstanding victory. “Two trophies, one unforgettable milestone,” said Royal Delft CEO Hessel Hoekstra at the handover.
