After introducing the Wild Flower tile collection numbers 01 through 06, Royal Delft now presents series 07 through 12.
Wild Flower Tile 07 is part of the Wild Flower Series—an exquisite, colorful, and floral Polychrome collection consisting of six tiles and the Proud Mary Wild Flower. The tile, featuring a blue floral decoration, is created using a screen-printing technique, carefully packaged, and shipped from Delft. It can easily be combined with one or more tiles from this new (tile) series.
A Piece of Delft Blue History
In the 1960s, Royal Delft acquired the Westraven tile factory. A remarkable discovery was recently made in the archives: sketches and transfer sheets of six stunningly detailed floral designs from Westraven. These sketches and transfers date back to 1930, are in excellent condition, and serve as the foundation for this tile collection. Additionally, they have inspired the skirt of Proud Mary Wild Flower. The tiles pair beautifully with the latest addition to the Proud Mary family.
Wild Flowers in Modern Interiors
Modern interiors are often influenced by nature. The designers at Westraven in the 1930s drew their inspiration directly from the natural world. Flowers such as the wood tulip, snake’s head fritillary, and clematis served as their muses—almost a century later, Royal Delft’s designers are taking these motifs to a new level. The patterns are crafted using the multicolored polychrome decoration technique, featuring shades of yellow, green, blue, and reddish-brown. The expertise in working with these specific colors originates from the Mediterranean region. These earthy tones now form the foundation of contemporary interior design.
