A Piece of Delft Blue History

In the 1960s, Royal Delft acquired the Westraven tile factory. Recently, a remarkable discovery was made in the archive: the sketches and transfer sheets of six stunningly different floral designs by Westraven. These sketches and transfers date back to 1930. They are in excellent condition and form the foundation of the tile collection. Additionally, they served as inspiration for the skirt of Proud Mary Wild Flower. The tiles can be beautifully paired with the latest member of the Proud Mary family.

Wild Flowers in Modern Interiors

Modern interiors are characterized by natural influences. The designers at Westraven in the 1930s drew their inspiration directly from nature. Flowers such as the woodland tulip, snake’s head fritillary, and clematis, which served as their inspiration, are now elevated to a new level almost 100 years later by the designers of Royal Delft. The designs have been developed using the polychrome multi-color decoration technique, incorporating yellow, green, blue, and red-brown. The knowledge of working with these specific colors originates from the Mediterranean region. These earthy tones form the foundation of contemporary modern interior designs.

Wild Flowers in Modern Interiors

Modern interiors are often influenced by nature. The designers at Westraven in the 1930s drew their inspiration directly from the natural world.
