| The Vase Edition is a stylishly designed large vase, inspired by the shape of and the story behind the original tear bottle from Royal Delft. The vases are handmade and painted by the craftsmen and master painters of Royal Delft. Tearbottle Free as a Bird is 32 centimeters high and has a diameter of 22 centimeters. This vase is exclusively available on the webshop and in the Flagshipstore and Brandstore of Royal Delft.

Original tear bottle as inspiration

The tearbottle has a rich history. It is said that this bottle owes its name and shape to those distant days when the sailors were often absent for a long time and the women were left behind, weeping bitterly at parting. When photography and other modern means of communication did not yet exist, people who traveled still wanted to take a souvenir from home with them. This is how the tear bottle was born. The long, narrow neck of the bottle was placed in the corner of the eye to collect the tears. A precious little memory to take with you on long journeys.
