Proud Mary is named after Mary II, the wife of Stadtholder William III and a great admirer and collector of Delft Blue during the Dutch Golden Age. This stylish figurine was created out of a desire to give Royal Delft’s iconic Delft Blue a contemporary look. The design consists of four interchangeable elements: the skirt, the body, the collar, and the head. The design was created by Dutch designers Koens & Middelkoop, while the decoration was designed by the artists and master painters of Royal Delft.
Proud Mary Astonia
The Astonia collection has a rich history, inspired by a lidded pot from the De Drie Postleyne Astonne pottery. Royal Delft Museum has a similar vase, without lid, in its collection, which shows the beautiful decoration of De Drie Posteleyne Astonne. The Astonia collection from Royal Delft consists of six different pieces, including a beautiful hand-painted lidded jar, two hand-painted vases and a hand-painted Proud Mary.
This Proud Mary is a limited edition with only 150 pieces produced, making it a unique collector’s item.
The hand-painted Proud Mary Astonia is produced in a limited edition, there are only 150 copies available.
