Cabinet set

Besides the worldfamous Delft Blue the masterpainters at Royal Delft also create the multi-coloured polychrome collection. This decoration style is inspired by colour used in the Mediterranean and it is these colours that give the earthenware its typical character. This small jar with a lid has a yellow flower in the centre.

A cupboard set ( translated ‘kaststel’ in Dutch) is a matched set of vases intended for display on top of, or in, a wooded cupboard, cabinet or bookcase. The English term ‘garniture’(derived from the French) is also used to mean a cupboard set. The meaning of garniture underscores their decorative nature. A set is usually made up of one covered vase and two beaker vases. In Holland these are usually displayed on top of the cupboard.
