Koen, a gifted artist, saw his life change dramatically after an accident in 2021 that left him with brain injury. Despite this challenging event, his creative spirit remained intact. Alongside his brother Bart – who, since 2023, has been creating art on a different canvas: the human skin – they form an inspiring duo. Their close bond and love for art are evident in this distinctive design.

The motto “Never Ever Give Up,” inspired by a quote of Winston Churchill, has been subtly integrated into the tile. This powerful phrase, cherished by Annemarie and Edwin van der Sar after their own experiences with brain injury, adds extra meaning to this piece. As ambassadors of the Hersenstichting (Brain Foundation) and founders of the project The Class, they actively contribute to raising awareness and providing support for people affected by brain injury.
