Welcome to our presentation at the Milan Design Week, where we proudly participate in Masterly – The Dutch in Milano. This year, we present a selection of our hand-painted Iconic Collection, which represents the rich history and ongoing evolution of Delft Blue. The presentation is further enhanced by an impressive backdrop: the RW PT 03 SILVER DELFT BLUE wallpaper, designed by Workingbert and inspired by Royal Delft.
Royal Delft / De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles was founded in 1653 and is the last remaining Delftware factory from the 17th century. Here, Delft Blue is still hand-painted according to traditions that have been cherished for centuries.
In our Iconic Collection, historical designs come together that have made the Royal Delft brand and Delft Blue world-famous. These pieces, deeply rooted in our collective memory, proudly carry their name: ICONIC.
Meet Naatje, a passionate Delft Blue artisan. She dedicates herself to the crucial process of crafting Delft Blue: molding, sponging and finishing the clay to create a premium product. Discover more about our handmade products during a visit to our factory museum.
Meet Theo, a devoted Delft Blue craftsman. He works on a vital aspect of crafting Delft Blue: engobing. Having applied a smooth layer, the product is ready to be hand-painted by our master-painters. Discover more about our handmade products during a visit to our factory museum.
Meet Laurens, one of the master painters at Royal Delft. Through his dedication and professional skills, he transforms white objects into iconic Delft Blue treasures. Discover more about our handmade products during a visit to our factory museum.
Meet Huib, a dedicated craftsman who traditionally converts liquid clay into biscuit, ready for the painter. From pouring the clay, completing the finishing, carefully sponging to thorough inspection, Huib works with great accuracy every day.
Meet Leo, one of the master painters at Royal Delft. With his years of experience and accuracy, he turns a blank item into iconic Delft Blue.
Royal Delft’s ongoing pursuit of innovation has led to collaborations with contemporary designers and brands. A prime example is the collaboration with Bert Timmermans of Workingbert, which began a few years ago in Milan.
After the successful introduction of the Re-Framed Wall Panels last year during Masterly, we continue this collaboration. This year, the new RW PT 03 SILVER DELFT BLUE wallpaper forms the backdrop of our presentation at Masterly. This design, specially created for Royal Delft, places the classic iconic objects in a modern setting. In this presentation, the past and future come together in the heart of design in Milan.
As a designer for fashion and interior fabrics, Workingbert works for various clients worldwide. Digital print design is one of his specialties.
