Astonia

Proud Mary is named after Mary II, the wife of Stadtholder William III and a great lover and collector of Delft Blue during the Golden Age. This stylish figurine was created from a desire to give Royal Delft’s iconic Delft Blue a contemporary look. The design consists of four interchangeable elements: the skirt, the bodice, the collar, and the head. The design is by Dutch designers Koens & Middelkoop, and the decoration was created by the designers and master painters of Royal Delft. Astonia collection The Astonia collection carries a rich history with it, inspired by a lidded jar from the De Drie Posteleyne Astonne pottery. The Royal Delft Museum has a similar vase, without a lid, in its collection, which showcases the magnificent decoration of De Drie Posteleyne Astonne. The Royal Delft Astonia collection consists of six different pieces, including a beautiful hand-painted lidded jar, two hand-painted vases, and a hand-painted Proud Mary.
