VictoriaProud Mary is named after Mary II, the wife of Stadtholder William III and a great enthusiast and collector of Delft Blue during the Golden Age. This stylish figurine was created from the desire to give Royal Delft’s iconic Delft Blue a contemporary look. The design consists of four interchangeable elements: the skirt, the bodice, the collar, and the head. It was designed by the Dutch designers Koens & Middelkoop, while the decoration was realized by the designers and master painters of Royal Delft. In addition to this 17cm version, Proud Mary is also available in a larger 30cm hand-painted Limited Edition.
In the anniversary year of Amsterdam, in which the city celebrates its 750th birthday, Royal Delft presents a special edition of the iconic Proud Mary. This 17 cm high version is executed using a transfer technique, pays tribute to the capital in authentic Delft Blue, and celebrates the rich history of Amsterdam with a characterful art object.
The design shows the view from the IJ, a panoramic scene of historic ships in the harbor of Amsterdam. This sophisticated scene reflects the trading role the city has played throughout the centuries. The classic cityscape serves as a tribute to the Amsterdam of the Golden Age.

De Porceleyne Fles in Delft
Centuries-old craftsmanship lives on in De Porceleyne Fles. The screen printing technique, with its origins in eighteenth-century England, is still an essential part of the decorating process. Here, heritage, precision and craft come together in every ceramic object.
Even when the screen printing technique is used, the hand of the Royal Delft master painter is still part of the design. The first design is put on paper with a brush, using the same black paint. Once a final design has been made, it is sent to the printer. The printer scans it digitally and then turns it into a screen print.
This is divided into four separate layers for the four different shades of blue. It is then printed onto plastic films, and the films are exposed onto a screen printing frame. In this way the design transfers from the film to the frame. This is done four times for the different shades of blue, after which a carrier layer is added on top. That carrier holds the entire design together.
The transfer is then applied to the glazed product, after which it fuses with the glaze layer during the second firing.
