Tearbottle Rustic Flowers | The Vase Edition is a stylishly designed large vase, inspired by the shape of and the story behind the original tear bottle from Royal Delft. The vases are handmade and hand-painted by the craftsmen and master painters of Royal Delft. Tearbottle Rustic Flowers is 32 centimeters high and has a diameter of 16 centimeters. This vase is exclusively available in the webshop and in the Flagshipstore and Brandstore of Royal Delft.  

Original tear bottle as inspiration

The tear bottle has a rich history. It is said that this bottle owes its name and shape to those distant days when sailors were often away for a very long time and wives were left behind weeping bitterly at the farewell. When photography and other modern means of communication did not yet exist, people going on a journey still wanted to take a souvenir from home with them. This is how the tear bottle originated. The long, narrow neck of the bottle was placed in the corner of the eye so that the tears could be collected. A precious little memento to take along on long journeys.
