The beautiful Collar Bowl is part of the Black and White Reflection Series and showcases a new way of decorating applied by Royal Delft. The objects are finished with a powerful tone-on-tone reflection effect in black and white, in which the traditional and widely known flora and fauna decoration style is visible. The selection of objects in this series comes from the BlueD1653 collection, designed by Dutch designers Arian Brekveld and Koens & Middelkoop. Together with the Proud Mary, the two beautiful Collar Bowls create a powerful series.

Arian Brekveld, a prominent Dutch designer with an impressive portfolio, plays an important role within the Black and White Reflection Series with his Collar Bowls. Arian Brekveld has designed beautiful Collar Bowls in close collaboration with Royal Delft.
In 2024, the Collar Bowls underwent a contemporary transformation under the leadership of the Royal Delft Design Team. The bowls are now available in solid black or white, featuring the powerful tone-on-tone floral decoration. The new decoration technique creates a reflective effect, bringing out the traditional flora and fauna decoration style remarkably well.
The Collar Series consists of designs by Arian Brekveld. The pattern of the Collar Series comes from the designers and master painters of Royal Delft.

De Porceleyne Fles in Delft
Centuries-old craftsmanship lives on in De Porceleyne Fles. The screen printing technique, with its origins in eighteenth-century England, is still an essential part of the decorating process. Here, heritage, precision and craft come together in every ceramic object.
Even when the screen printing technique is used, the hand of the Royal Delft master painter is still part of the design. The first design is put on paper with a brush, using the same black paint. Once a final design has been made, it is sent to the printer. The printer scans it digitally and then turns it into a screen print.
This is divided into four separate layers for the four different shades of blue. It is then printed onto plastic films, and the films are exposed onto a screen printing frame. In this way the design transfers from the film to the frame. This is done four times for the different shades of blue, after which a carrier layer is added on top. That carrier holds the entire design together.
The transfer is then applied to the glazed product, after which it fuses with the glaze layer during the second firing.
