Tear bottle

It is said that this small bottle owes its name and shape to those long-gone days when sailors were often away from home for a very long time and wives were left behind, weeping bitterly at their departure. Photography and other modern means of communication did not yet exist, but people setting off on journeys still wanted to take a souvenir from home with them. Thus, the tear bottle was born. The long, narrow neck of the bottle was placed at the corner of the eye, allowing the tears to be collected. A precious little memento to take on long journeys.
