Tile Urban Blue Keya TamaThis tile was created to mark Urban Blue – from Bricks to Tiles, the exhibition at the Royal Delft Museum from March 7 to August 23, 2026. It brings together the worlds of Delft Blue and street art. For this special project, six international street artists, selected by Straat Museum, translate their signature style into world-famous Delft Blue pottery.
Six international artists blend tradition and innovation into a contemporary, urban visual language. Claudio Limon, Keya Tama, Madi, Ryol, Speto, and Tja Ling Hu each designed a tile with its own character and story. Together, they form a unique series that invites you to collect them.
About Tja Ling
Tja Ling Hu (b. 1987) is a visual artist and illustrator. In 2017, she won the prestigious Fiep Westendorp Encouragement Award for a project that depicted her family's journey from China to the Netherlands between the 1930s and 1970s. While it was a search for a better life for her family at the time, for Tja Ling, her Chinese heritage is a search for her own identity.
Tja Ling takes you into the world of her thoughts, which manifests in a surreal, dreamlike, and sometimes somber way. With her characteristic fine lines and soft pencil strokes, she invites you to literally enter her world: only by moving closer can you truly observe the details, making the connection with her work intimate and personal. It shows the connection to her Chinese heritage and upbringing, which she attempts to better understand through her art.
Tja Ling's work has been exhibited in various galleries, museums, and art fairs, such as Art on Paper (Amsterdam) and Museum LAM (Lisse). In addition to her work on paper, she also creates murals, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

Royal Delft Museum X STRAAT Museum Amsterdam
The subtitle from Bricks to Tiles refers to the creative leap made by six international street artists: from the surfaces they know best to the world-famous earthenware of Royal Delft. During two artistic residencies they brought their own visual language together with the centuries-old tradition of Delft Blue.
The first residency took place in November, when the artists worked live in a temporary studio inside Royal Delft Museum. This produced six monumental tile panels in which the expressive power of street art meets iconic Delft Blue.
In addition, each artist painted a selection of objects from the Royal Delft collection in the characteristic cobalt blue, complemented with polychrome colours and gold decoration. In doing so they made the step from a flat surface to three-dimensional objects.
This special exhibition was created in collaboration with STRAAT Museum Amsterdam, the museum for street art and graffiti on the iconic NDSM wharf. By combining the expertise of both museums, two contrasting art worlds meet in a unique presentation where tradition and contemporary street art come together.
