In 1955, Miffy was ‘born’. During a holiday in Egmond aan Zee, Dick Bruna told his eldest son a story every evening before bedtime about a white rabbit hopping around in the garden of their holiday home. That rabbit became the inspiration for Miffy, the iconic bunny who is now world-famous. Royal Delft has been making exclusive Delft Blue handmade products for Miffy since 2002!

Liquid clay is poured into the specially made mold. The inside of this mold is shaped like Miffy. After some time, when the clay is thick enough, we pour the remaining clay out of the mold and let it dry until it is ready to be removed from the mold.

The Royal Dutch Delftware Manufactory “De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles / Royal Delft” established in 1653, is the last remaining Delftware factory from the 17th century. Here, the world renowned Royal Delftware is still entirely hand-painted according to centuries-old tradition. In Royal Delft’s collection today, you will find a number of pieces, which can be referred to as iconic for the brand.
