Besides the worldfamous Delft Blue the masterpainters at Royal Delft also create the multi-coloured polychrome collection. This decoration style is inspired by colour used in the Mediterranean and it is these colours that give the earthenware its typical character. This polychrome jar is part of a cabinet set. In the thirties of the eighteenth century no fewer than ten types were launched in Delft. According to the fashion of that time, cupboards were placed on the overhanging hood of a cabinet. This mug with richly decorated floral patterns has stood the test of time.
